The ALS Society of Alberta:
- The ALS Society of Alberta, incorporated as a non profit agency in 1986, helps those affected by and living with ALS. It supports clients and families by profieding client services, information, support and education. The work of the Society is funded through special events, foundations, memorial contributions, general donations and corporate gifts.
Services:
- Client Services- facilitation and provision of care, lending support, connecting with various resources in the community; providing and clarifying information pertaining to ALS, coordinating support groups
- Equipment Program - focus on coordination, delivery and maintenance of medical equipment and assistive technology for persons living with ALS
- Awareness and Education Programs - raises awareness among medical community and the Alberta public through the ALS disease and the services available through the Society and other organizations
- Advocacy - the Society is also taking an active role in urging the federal and provincial governments to raise awareness about ALS and facilitate necessaary changes in the provision of care systems.
