This site was created by people who love Joy Styles, who was diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2009. The website played a role in bringing together friends and family and was instrumental in raising more than $45,000 for her treatments and care. Because of the out pouring of support and love, and because of Joy, we would like to continue with Hope for Joy in the hopes that we can bring the same joy to other's lives as Joy Styles has brought to ours.
A key component to Hope for Joy is the writing competition, and the stories that need to be heard. So many people have been touched in so many different ways by terminal illness, such as ALS, and have found their own way. This experience should be shared and Hope for Joy wishes to help those with a voice, be heard.
Select stories will be published and made available for sale in various formats with the proceeds of the net sales going to the ALS Society of Alberta to assist people with ALS. The purpose of Hope for Joy is to give a voice to those who have faced the most challenging time of their life, and to provide a better quality of life for those who are living with ALS.
